Mavelikkara: The father of the accused in the case of murder of six-year-old girl Nakshatra died after jumping from the train at Punnamudu elephant enclosure. The incident took place today at 3:30 am.
The incident took place when the chargesheet was read out before the Alappuzha Additional Sessions Judge and then taken back to Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail.
The incident took place at Shastamkota railway station. Accused jumped from MEMU train. The body has been kept in Shastamkota Taluk Hospital.
He said he went to urinate. He pushed two policemen and jumped onto the track.
Srimahesh, who was remanded the day after killing Nakshatra, tried to commit suicide with a blade in jail.
Last June 7, the incident that shook the conscience of man took place. Shrimahesh killed Nakshatra, who was playing in the sitting room of the house in Punnamudu elephant enclosure, after laying him down saying that he would give him a surprise, using an ax hidden in his hand.
He had also attacked and injured Srimahesh’s mother Sunanda who had entered there unexpectedly. Then, with the help of locals, the police subdued him and arrested him.
After the death of his first wife, his daughter Nakshatra was found to be a hindrance in Mr. Mahesh’s attempt to remarry, and he brutally killed his daughter.
The charge sheet was filed within 76 days against Mr. Mahesh, who was arrested immediately after the crime. The charge sheet was submitted by the investigating officer Mavelikkara SHO C. Sreejith.
The charge sheet against Mr. Mahesh was read out today. The court had adjourned the case to start the witness examination on January 16.
