Facebook has revealed that the central government and the states have asked for data on 40,300 users between July and December 2020 alone. Of these, 37,865 were legal, the company said. The company added that in 52 per cent of such cases, at least some data had to be entered. The company says it is complying with government requests and local laws as much as possible. Facebook also revealed that 54 people had been denied data access following a court ruling. The central and state governments asked for data on 62,754 users or accounts during the June-December period.
