Thiruvananthapuram: AV Gopinath, former MLA and member of Peringotukurissi panchayat, who participated in the Navakerala meeting, has been suspended from the primary membership of the Congress.
Gopinath, who attended the New Kerala meeting, praised Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Left government.
Gopinath described the New Kerala audience as the most daring step taken by the Chief Minister to hold a dialogue with the people.
Action was taken against AV Gopinath who violated party ban. TU Radhakrishnan took action against AV Gopinath on behalf of KPCC.
KPCC had earlier taken the stand that the party’s decision is applicable to everyone. Gopinath came along with the district secretary of the CPM in the morning meeting held at the auditorium in Palakkad Ramanathapuram on Saturday.
Gopinath responded that when the government meets the people, it gives an opportunity to bring some issues of Palakkad district to the Chief Minister’s attention, and that is why he came.
Gopinath said that there is no politics in coming with CPM district secretary and he is his soul friend. Gopinath explained that he is a staunch Congressman and wants to stay in the Congress.
But the Congress took action against AV Gopinath who violated the party decision. At the same time, League women’s leader Subaida also reached the New Kerala audience. But the league leaders said that Subaida was expelled from the party.
