Actor Mammootty himself has come to help Sreeja after seeing Asianet News news. Mammootty came to know about their condition through Asianet News and was ready to undertake Sreeja’s treatment. Sreeja, who has no sight in one eye, was in ninth grade when the nerve to the eye rotted and the other eye also lost sight. Sreeja was unable to live without help. Asianet News made the story of Sreeja’s miserable life. Noticing this, Mammootty and Pathanapuram Gandhi Bhavan decided to take on Sreeja.
Sreeja (37) is the second of the three daughters of the late Kuttappan and Ammini at Maveli house in Thirunarayanapuram, Kanjur. Sreeja was born blind in one eye. While studying in the ninth standard, the nerve to the eye rotted and the sight in the other eye was also lost. Due to this, I had to leave the study midway. Being a poor family, not much treatment was done. During Sreeja the eyes will hurt. He could not bear the pain and cried loudly. Unable to do anything, Ammini sits nearby and cries silently.
Mammootty asked the Angamali Little Flower Hospital authorities to check whether the eye could recover. But during the expert examination, it was found that Sreeja’s eyes would not be able to see. Realizing the depth of Sreeja’s plight, Mammootty discussed with Care and Share Chairman K Muralidharan what they could do. Shri Muralidharan, who is also the Patron of Gandhi Bhavan, spoke to Gandhi Bhavan Chairman Somarajan and decided to take on Sreeja. Sreeja’s father Kuttappan was a coconut plantation worker. He fell from a coconut tree 20 years ago. He died after being motionless for five years. Ammini has many diseases. Life and treatments went ahead with the help of Sumanas.
