Bengaluru: The remains of 5 people were found in mysterious circumstances in Karnataka. Five skeletons were found in a house near Chalakare Gate in Chitradurga district.
The house has been closed since 2019. The skeletons are five years old. Police said Jagannath Reddy and his family lived in the house.
Government employee Jagannath Reddy (85), his wife Prema (80), daughter Triveni (62), sons Krishna (60) and Narendra (57) lived in this house.
Four skeletons were found in a room. Another one was found in the next room. Neighbors say that the house was locked since 2019 and the people in the house do not talk much with outsiders.
Neighbors say the five members of the family were last seen outside in July 2019. Relatives say that the family had health problems. The police have concluded that it was a suicide. A suicide note believed to have been written by Jagannath has been received. But the letters are faded in the note.
At the same time, the police clarified that the dead bodies can be identified only after a detailed forensic examination and DNA test. The police did not take at face value the claim of the neighbors that they did not find out about their death even after three and a half years.
The police said that they are also investigating whether the dead bodies were decomposed and reduced to mere remains and taken home. The skeletons were first seen by a drunken man who opened the gate of the locked house and entered. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.
