Paramekkavu temple’s celebrity tusker Padmanabhan died in Thrissur on Monday. He was 60. The elephant had been carrying the idol of Paramekkavu Bhagavati during Thrissur Pooram for more than a decade.
Padmanabhan was under treatment after collapsing and falling ill a week ago. It breathed its last around 9.30 pm on Monday.
A devotee had handed over Padmanabhan to Paramekkavu temple in 2005. He was one of the tallest captive tuskers in Kerala.
