Had it not been for PT’s immediate intervention on the day the actress was attacked, all this would have faded away before dawn; Uma Thomas

Uma Thomas responded through Facebook saying that the government’s action which has been hoarded for four and a half years is a deceitful, humiliating and unforgivable action by this government towards the women community. All that glitters is not gold.
I prefer to interpret the Hema Committee Report as the beginning of a struggle for women in recent Kerala history. As a woman, I salute Justice Hema and the other commission members who brought this report to the general public of Kerala by overcoming difficult and challenging situations. The Chief Minister, who is also the administrative head of the state, has the responsibility to clarify who it is to protect.

The Hema Commission report has shown that the LDF government, which came to power by guaranteeing women’s safety, has deteriorated to such an extent that it is not even possible to ensure conditions suitable for women to work in their workplaces with dignity and self-esteem.
If the Hema Committee came out today and reached the path of law, it is also the result of the zeal of a man named PT Thomas. Had it not been for PT’s immediate intervention on the day the actress was attacked, all of this would have faded away before dawn that day.

Now PT will be sitting somewhere listening to all this. Even when many people in the film industry turned against them, this report that came out in this way is a great achievement of WCC. I am not ready to slam all the actors in the name of the report.
So many loving relationships that continue to be personal and our family. No names are mentioned. It is unacceptable that the work of a woman working in the film industry is not paid as much as the work of a man.
People of criminal nature who use intoxicating substances like ganja and MDMA should be banned for life from all places associated with the film industry. Women are often unable to use their washrooms, there are no changing facilities, there is a very insecure environment in the shooting area, and unsafe travel times. Today Malayalees are discussing all this with great shock.
Including all this, I request that the government, which has been closed for four and a half years on this report, should be prepared to implement drastic changes and ensure conditions for women to work with self-respect.
