Kerala govt grants Rs 2 lakh for treatment of John Paul

The Kerala government has allotted Rs 2 lakh for the medical treatment of scriptwriter John Paul from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. A social activist, John Paul, has been undergoing treatment with severe health problems and breathing issues for over two months now.

State minister P Rajeev on Sunday visited John Paul at the Lissie Hospital in Ernakulam. He had also discussed John Paul’s health and treatment expenses with his daughter.

Meanwhile, John Paul’s long time friends Prof MK Sanu, Prof M Thomas Mathew, Fr Thomas Puthussery, M Mohan, CICC Jayachandran, P Ramachandran, Adv Manu Roy, Siji Rajagopal, Johnson C Abraham and Thanuja Bhattathiri are supporting his family.

John Paul has written scripts for nearly 100 films and was active in the 1980s and early 1990s. He was awarded the Nana Gallop poll award for the best screenplay writer, Kerala film critics association award, and the State award for the best film book for M.T. Oru Anuyathra. He was the producer of the movie ‘Oru Cherupunchiri’ directed by M.T. Vasudevan Nair, which has won state, national and international awards.

John Paul was the founder general secretary for MACTA, an association for film technicians. In 2017 he acted in film ‘c/o Sairabanu’ along with Manju Warrier. He was also seen in prominent role in Gangster, opposite Mammootty. His program featured in the channel safari is pretty popular among cinema lovers.
