Lawyer arrested in case of abducting a native of Chempharanti, keeping him in prison and brutally beating him. The police recorded the arrest of Manoj, who is also the former legal officer of Sivagiri Mutt. The lawyer surrendered after the court denied anticipatory bail in the case.
On October 23, Manikantha Prasad, a native of Chembazaranti, who was traveling on a scooter, was abducted by a group of people in a car. Then he was kept in custody for two days and brutally beaten. Acid-like liquid was poured into the mouth and burned. Manikantha Prasad, who was seriously injured, was later left on the roadside in Kottayam.
It was alleged that the police did not file a case due to Manoj’s influence, although Manikantha Prasad filed a complaint. Later, after filing a complaint with the DGP, the police registered a case and started investigation. Meanwhile, Manoj tried for anticipatory bail but was denied bail. Then he surrendered before the police.
In the case, the complainant Manikand Prasad and the accused Manoj are related to Sivagiri Mutt. The police concluded that some power dispute related to the Math led to the abduction.
