Heavy rainfall led to a massive landslide in Thamarassery pass on Tuesday. The landslide occurred near the Gate of Wayanad in Lakkidi this afternoon. Fortunately, major accidents were averted as there were no vehicles on the road.
The traffic on the pass was completely disrupted following the landslide. The traffic was later restored after removing stones and soil from the national highway using JCB.
The cyclonic circulation formed in the Bay of Bengal will turn into a low-pressure region in 48 hours. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that rains will continue as the low pressure will strengthen.
