Mohanlal honoured ‘Face of the week’ by National Film Archive of India

Ahead of Malayalam cinema’s pride Mohanlal’s birthday, the superstar was honoured by making him the ‘face of the week’ by the National Film Archive of India (NFAI). NFAI has selected some of the best works of Mohanlal. The National Award winning actor will turn 62 this Saturday.

On Monday, NFAI posted a rare picture from Mohanlal’s iconic film ‘Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal’, and shared a summary that read, “#FaceOfTheWeek #Mohanlal as Solomon in cult Malayalam hit Namukku Parkkan Munthiri Thoppukal (1986). Considered as one of the most enthralling romantic characters, Mohanlal brought unique charm to it. Gripping narrative, expressive visuals and stirring music are highlights of the film. Venu won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for the lyrical and brilliant visual presentation.”

On Tuesday, the poster of Mohanlal starrer ‘Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu’ was shared, and the note read, “A poster for Fazil’s classic Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu (1984). #FaceOfTheWeek #Mohanlal played a relatively small yet important role in the film and impressed all with flamboyance, in the still early years of his career. The film revolves around the lonely and grumpy widow (Padmini) and her granddaughter (Nadhiya Moidu).”

Today, on Wednesday (May 18), NFAI showcased a poster of the fan favourite ‘Pavithram’. “Pavithram (1994) presents a heart-warming tale of a bond between siblings who have an almost 30-year age difference. #FaceOfTheWeek #Mohanlal played a young man Unnikrishnan, whose relationship with his fiancée and career gets troubled with the birth of an unexpected sister. He sacrifices everything to take care young sibling,” the note read.
