Mohanlal pens heartfelt note on passing away of John Paul

Mohanlal on Saturday penned a note on veteran scriptwriter John Paul, who passed away this afternoon, in a private hospital, Kochi. The latter was undergoing treatment for over two months before he breathed his last today.

Mohanlal took to his official Facebook page and gave his last respects to John Paul. He wrote, ” Dearest John Paul ettan has left us. I am very fortunate to have been able to bring to life many of his characters who were extraordinary, which gave a new dimension to Malayalam cinema through their powerful screenplays. He has given us so many stories that deeply touch human relationships. With tears, I bow to the great storyteller who captured the hearts of the Malayalees with his beautiful smile and even more with beautiful language.”

Mohanlal, back in 1980s have worked in films written by John Paul like Asthram, Onnanu Nammal (1984), Athiraathram (1984), Avidutheppole Ivideyum (1985), Omanikkan Ormavekkan (1985), Revathikkoru Paavakkutty (1986), Mizhineerppoovukal (1986).

John Paul has received several awards including, the Nana Gallop poll award for the best screenplay writer, Kerala film critics association award, and the State award for the best film book for M.T. Oru Anuyathra. He was the producer of the movie Oru Cherupunchiri directed by M.T. Vasudevan Nair, which has won state, national and international awards.
