Thiruvananthapuram: Train services from Kerala to Bihar with guest workers were canceled. Trains from Alappuzha and Tirur stations have been canceled. This is because the Bihar government did not get its approval to send workers to the state.
Five trains from Kannur, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Ernakulam districts to Bihar, with 5574 guest workers. In Kannur, a co-operative non-stop train with 1140 people left at 7 pm. The service was from Kozhikode to Kathihar in Bihar. There were 1090 passengers from labor camps in Vadakara taluk itself.
The train, which left Thrissur at 5.15 pm on Sunday to Darbhanga in Bihar, has 1143 workers. As per the Department of Labor, the Thrissur district has 3398 workers from Bihar. 2201 guest workers from Ernakulam also returned to Bihar. The train to Baruni in Bihar departed with 1140 passengers at 3 pm. The second train departed for Muzaffarpur at 6pm. 5513 workers have returned to their homeland within three days.
