Director Ranjith had said the other day that Mohanlal’s Thrissur language in the movie Tuwanathumbikal was boring. Ranjith’s words were in an interview given to a media.
The Thrissur dialect of Thuwanathumpi is Bor. Mohanlal and Pappetan have not tried to correct it. Ranjith said that he tried to imitate the language.
It was a big discussion on social media. Now Mohanlal has come with a reply to Ranjith’s criticism.
Mohanlal replied to this while talking to a media regarding the promotion of Neer movie.
I am not from Thrissur, I used the Thrissur language in Thuwanathumpi in the way I know. I am not from that country. I did as Padmarajan said.
Maybe there was no one to correct me that day. Mohanlal said in response to Ranjith’s criticism that maybe that’s why it happened.
Ranjith said-
Mohanlal starrer Thuwanathumbilam is our favorite. Its Thrissur language is Bor. Mohanlal and Pappetan have not tried to correct it. An attempt was made to imitate the language.
The people of Thrissur are not the ones who say, “Let us drink some lemonade,” not that they should say anything in Thrissur slang, obviously. The same Jayakrishnan speaks to Clara in Pappetta’s own literature. But Mohanlal’s language has a rhythm of his own.
He is a convincing actor. Didn’t Mohanlal prove it as a failed bus service character, an underworld hero and a Gurkha? Ranji Panicker used to say that Lal would get the meter I write.
Mohanlal likes to stay in his comfort zone. He is the guy who hits a hundred people on camera. Still Lal is hesitant to come in front of the crowd. Lal be comforted by those close to you. Not changed now. I have known Lal for many years. He is such a man.
