relative? Enemy?; Kitex group has contributed the most to CPM

Kochi: Estimates show that in the financial year 2022-23, the CPM received the largest contribution from Kerala from the Kitex Group, which is constantly at loggerheads with the government.

This information is contained in the report submitted to the CPM Election Commission including the details of the donors.

Kitex handed over 30 lakh rupees to CPM. According to the report, the payment was made through cheque.

The company is second in the list of contributors at the national level. CITU Karnataka State Committee tops the list.

56.8 lakhs was contributed by CITU Karnataka State Committee. Meanwhile, CPM received a total of Rs 6.2 crore.

In this regard, Kitex Chairman Sabu Jacob responded that the donation to CPM was made in the name of common courtesy.

'They had approached asking for election funds. We donated as a matter of common courtesy. Donations were made through bank accounts only.

Sabu also stated that it was during the Trikkakara by-election. Payment is a completely natural process. But he did not give money because he was afraid of them.

If they come to us even after taking money, their principles should be questioned.” Sabu Jacob said.

However, CPM State Secretary MV Govindan said that he does not know anything about this and the accounts department handles the information regarding donations.
