SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ has now become the third highest-grossing Indian film of all time at the worldwide box office. The film has outperformed at the box office to put behind Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and Aamir Khan’s ‘Secret Superstar’.
‘RRR’ starring south superstars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles has collected 923 crores worldwide. The film has grossed a whooping Rs 745 crores at domestic box office and Rs 178 crores at overseas.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan had grossed 922.03 crores in its lifetime box office run. “Secret Superstar”, a musical drama film that featured Aamir Khan in the extended cameo role, had grossed 912.07 crores worldwide, including 831.47 crores overseas.
Thereby, RRR film has already become the second-highest domestic grosser of all time. Rajamouli’s previous blockbuster “Baahubali 2 The Conclusion” which had grossed 1416.9 crores in India in 2017.
In ‘RRR’, Rajamouli came across stories about the lives of Rama Raju and Bheem and connected the coincidences between them, imagining what would have happened had they met, and been friends. Set in 1920, the plot explores the undocumented period in their lives when both the revolutionaries chose to go into oblivion before they began the fight for their country. The film was made on a budget of Rs 550 crore. It is produced by D. V. V. Danayya of DVV Entertainment.
