Finally, it was a historical moment for Malayalam cinema, as ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ got released on Amazon Prime today morning. The movie, which marked the first Malayalam project to hit an OTT platform, made a revolutionary movement. It is expected that more and more film makers will come forward expressing their willingness to release in OTT platforms.
However, soon after the movie hitting the OTT platform, the pirated copies start making their presence felt in the digital spaces. The pirated copies of the project are available for downloading in Torrent and Telegram. Now, this is a major issue, which films releasing in OTT platforms are going to face. It has to be seen, how they are going to tackle the problem.
Starring Jayasurya, Aditi Rao Hydari, debutant Dev Mohan in the lead roles, ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ has been scripted and directed by debutant Shanavas Naranippuzha. Under the banner of ‘Friday Films’, Vijay Babu has produced the project.
