China’s internet censorship is known for its strict laws – often called, the Great Firewall, however is said to have removed Skype from Apple’s Store, the Chinese app store, from last month itself. This is not the first time, when China has blocked popular applications, citing security reasons. In the past, WhatsApp saw a partial ban in the country, around the same time Apple’s Store removed Virtual Private Network (VPN) services. iBooks, iTunes Movies, Facebook, Gmail et al. are the other applications, which were firewalled by China in the past.
