Thrissur Collector turns singer for ‘Karuna’ movie

Thrissur Collector Haritha V Kumar made her singing debut for Malayalam film ‘Karuna’ at a studio in Chiyyaram in Thrissur. No matter what you are, the talent within is always appreciated and promoted. She rendered voice to the music composed by Mohan Sithara in Hindustani raga Shyam Kalyan.

Prior to recording, Haritha sought permission from the Chief Secretary to sing for the movie. Chiyaram’s studio thus witnessed for the first time a district collector singing for a Malayalam film.

The shooting of the film is progressing in Malappuram district. directed by Roopesh. The song ‘Theeram Kavarneduth Venshankhil’ was penned by Roopesh’s wife Dr. Mini.

Haritha started learning classical music at the age of six and performed her first concert at Kalamassery Ganapathi Kovil when she was in the fifth class. Recently, her musical concert at Thiruvambadi temple had also gained public attention.

‘Karuna’ will feature ‘Malavika Nair’ in the lead role and is produced by Manjush. Actress Malavika Nair got much recognition by playing Mammootty’s daughter character Malli in the film Karutha Pakshikal’ which was released in the year 2006.
