It’s a proud moment for R Madhavan, as his son broke a national junior record at a swimming competition. Vedaant Madhavan rewrote the national record in the 1500 m freestyle event for group I boys at the ongoing 48th Junior National Aquatic Championships being held at the Biju Patnaik Swimming Pool in the iconic Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
He broke the previous holder’s record of 16 minutes and established a new meet milestone.
Madhavan wrote, “Never say never. National Junior Record for 1500m freestyle broken,” and added several hearts, folded hands emojis to his post.
Vedaant beat Karnataka’s Amogh Anand Venkatesh who timed 16:21.98 seconds and Bengal’s Shubhojeet Gupta who touched pads on 16:34.06 to win the bronze.
Back in April, Vedaant also won the gold medal in the men’s 800m freestyle at the Danish Open in Copenhagen
Meanwhile, on the work front, Madhavan recently starred in ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’. Helmed by Madhavan himself, it’s an Indian biographical drama on the life of scientist Nambi Narayanan. The film also marks Madhavan’s directorial debut and is slated to have a worldwide release on July 1, 2022.
