India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu gave a remarkable feat as she won her second women’s singles title at the Swiss Open Super 300 badminton tournament on Sunday. She claimed victory by defeating Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan.
With a score of 21-16, 21-8, she took only 49 minutes to defeat her opponent at the St. Jakobshalle. Sindhu has already won two Super 300 titles this year. In January, she won the Syed Modi International. She is the second Indian woman to win the Swiss Open, after Saina Nehwal in 2011 and 2012.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Indian shuttler, PV Sindhu, on winning the women’s singles title of Swiss Open 2022. “Congratulations to @Pvsindhu1 on winning the Swiss Open 2022. Her accomplishments inspire the youth of India. Best wishes to her for her future endeavours,” said PM Modi in a tweet.
Meanwhile, HS Prannoy suffered a 12-21,18-21 defeat against Asian Games gold medallist from Indonesia Jonatan Christie to finish runner-up. The 29-year-old from Thiruvananthapuram has been suffering from multiple health issues after being diagnosed with a gastroesophageal reflux disease in 2018 and COVID-19 infection in 2019.
