In Mahatma Gandhi University, maternity leave will no longer be an obstacle for female students to appear for exams. Maternity leave up to two months allocated. The decision was taken at the syndicate meeting held on Friday. Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. said that it is the first time in Kerala that a university allows women students to take maternity leave in a way that does not interfere with writing exams. CT Aravindakumar said.

60 days maternity leave will be granted to female students after 18 years of age in Degree, PG, Integrated and Professional Courses (Non-Technical) in various Departments and Affiliated Colleges of the University. This leave can be taken before or after delivery. The period of leave shall be calculated inclusive of public holidays and ordinary holidays. 14 days leave will be allowed in cases of abortion, abortion, tubectomy etc. Syndicate members Dr. R. Anita, Dr. S. Shajila Bivi, Dr. Biju Pushpan, Dr. A committee consisting of Jos and others submitted the recommendation regarding maternity leave.

Conditions are as follows

Leave is allowed only for first or second pregnancy. Leave can be granted to those who produce a certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner. The application should be submitted at least three days prior to the commencement date of maternity leave. Those taking maternity leave during the semester will be allowed to register for the examination of the same semester. The same exam can be written additionally in the next semester along with regular students. ?After maternity leave you can continue your studies with your own batch in the current semester.

75% attendance is required to appear for the exam in a semester of 90 working days. Many students studying for PG were unable to write the exam due to absenteeism during pregnancy and childbirth. In this way many people were unable to complete the course. A new decision was taken after noticing this.

Reservation for Scheduled Castes for research
:Reservation will be made for students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for research. All research guides should reserve one seat for students belonging to this category. Even if there are no eligible students, the vacancy should be maintained for one year. Later, further steps can be taken as directed by the Doctoral Committee.

One of the currently vacant seats for research in the departments should be reserved in this manner.

The Syndicate also suggested that the first vacant post should be reserved for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
