The Kerala distribution rights of the upcoming movie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ have been acquired by Sree Gokulam Movies. The film is being produced by Mani Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under the banner of Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions and is set for release on September 30.
The film will be released in five languages -Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The film will screen in over 250 theatres in Kerala.
Gokulam Gopalan of Gokulam Movies said that he is very proud to be able to bring a film like ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, which the whole world is waiting for, to theaters in Kerala. IMAX is a 70 mm motion picture film format and a cinema projection method in which the width of the screen image is greater than the height of the screen.
IMAX Corporation and Leica Productions are bringing Ponniyin Selvan to IMAX screens this September, making it the first Tamil film to make its IMAX debut.
