A Bollywood film based on the life of India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi is underway. Titled ‘Emergency’, the film is directed by Bollywood’s powerhouse Kangana Ranaut, where she herself is essaying the role of Indira Gandhi.
Now, in a big surprise, Malayalam youth actor Vishak Nair will be playing an important character in the film, that is, Sanjay Gandhi. This marks his first Hindi film and he shared the first look of the Sanjay Gandhi on his social media handle.
Vishak Nair is known for his role as ‘Kuppi’ in the hit film ‘Aanandam’ and later went on to play notable roles in films like Puthanpanam’, ‘Chunks’ and ‘Chembarathippoo’.
Taking to Instagram, Vishak wrote, “Truly honoured to essay the role of #SanjayGandhi – an enigma whose ambition eclipsed all. Humbled to be a part of such a great team in @kanganaranaut ‘s directorial #Emergency.”

Manikarnika Films presents ‘Emergency,’ written and directed by Kangana Ranaut, is about the state of national emergency announced by Indira Gandhi on June 25, 1975. It lasted until March 21, 1977, when the Janata Party won a historic election. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, and Milind Soman. The film is backed by Renu Pitti and Kangana Ranaut.
