Irumpupalam native Aswin Sasi (24) and Arakkakudi Varghese Joju (41) were arrested by the police and excise respectively for providing alcohol to school students in Adimaly.
The teachers caught a few students who were intoxicated during a youth festival held in a prominent government school in Adimaly. During the interrogation, the students said that Aswin Sasi, who was taking the children to the school in a jeep, gave them the alcohol.
The information was later conveyed to the PTA committee. Locals and teachers stopped Ashwin Sasi and interrogated him and he confessed to the crime and was handed over to the police. During police questioning, he said that Joju, a bus driver of the prominent school in Adimali, gave him the alcohol.
Then the police sought the help of the excise and called Joju with the help of Aswin and asked him to bring liquor. Joju was finally held while coming with a litre of liquor in an autorickshaw.
