The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) cancelled the fitness certificate of five buses, including two KSRTC buses, for operating services without a speed governor. The fitness certificate was revoked following an inspection by the MVD at Kozhinjampara on Tuesday.
MVD carried out the inspection as a part of Operation Focus 3. During the inspection, speed governors were found missing in two KSRTC buses – operating services from Thrissur to Coimbatore and Palakkad to Pollachi and three private buses.
The MVD officials after inspection, directed to arrange bus facilities for the passengers. However, the KSRTC bus en route to Pollachi left for Palakkad depot after leaving the passengers on road.
The passengers were helpless and had to opt for other buses to reach their destinations.
