Mani Ratnam’s historical drama Ponniyin Selvan-1 has crossed the Rs. 200 crore mark in home state Tamil Nadu, becoming one of the highest grossers of all time in the region.
The film stars an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and R. Parthiban.
According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Ponniyin Selvan is yet to surpass Rajinikanth’s 2.0’s records in India and in the international market. The film is still going strong at the box office.
Trade expert Ramesh Bala confirmed that Ponniyin Selvan is the first Tamil film to enter the Rs 200-crore club in Tamil Nadu. He also added that the film is yet to beat Rajiikanth’s 2.0 in India and the international market.
