The recent days were tumultuous as far as UIDAI authorities are concerned with. With Aadhaar data breach reports hitting the media, the agency has come up with a Virtual ID. The Virtual ID will act as an extra shield of security for Aadhaar data. Any Aadhaar card holders can generate the Virtual ID from the official website. The Virtual ID can then be used for purposes like SIM verification, linking bank account and to name the rest.
The Virtual ID will have a random 16 digit number. Temporary and revocable in nature, the Virutal ID will start getting accepted by the Aadhaar issuing body from March 1, 2018 onwards.
