Facebook, during the ‘Code Media 2018’ conference in California, commented that they were all about ensuring quality of news on Facebook. However, the company maintained that the duty of ensuring the quality of news, was solely the responsibility of publishers. Talking about the content in its platform, Facebook’s Head of News Partnerships – Campbell Brown said that they would rather be concentrating on setting a better platform for publishers.
Facebook will also be going for a deal with Apple about a subscription service programme in the Facebook iOS app. Along with sticking to its decision of prioritizing local news reports in the Facebook News Feeds, the latest decisions from Facebook, is sure to strengthen its reach in the local content market.
