US President Donald Trump withdraws funding for World Health Organization. Trump accused the organization of covering up the intensity of the virus that erupted in China. The US will evaluate the World Health Organization’s role in effectively managing the spread of coronavirus and masking the severity of the disease. Trump said in a press conference that the organization is currently planning to discontinue funding.
It will then be decided what to use for the money that was given to the WHO. Trump said he doubted whether the telecommunications organization was using the generosity the US had given so long when the Covid pandemic broke out. The United States, the largest donor country to the World Health Organization, contributed $ 400 million last year.
But the UN has come out against the actions of the US president. UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutierrez said this phase of the fight against the virus is not a time to stop any organization’s revenue streams. Guterres said he believed the support of the World Health Organization was essential because the world’s efforts to win the war against Covid were crucial.
