India has bagged yet another unwanted title during its battle against coronavirus. Marking the first 10K plus daily positive count figure, India has surpassed UK in terms of the number of Covid patients. With 10,956 new Covid positive cases during the past 24 hours, India has documented a total of 2,97,535 patients till now. The active Covid case figure stands at 1,41,843, whereas the number of people who have managed to get cured is 1,47,194.
Apart from an increase in the daily positive case count, India also marked 396 casualties as well. With this, the total number of Covid deaths in India has reached 8,498. Maharashtra, the most dangerous Covid cluster in the country has registered 3,607 new positive cases and 152 deaths during the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the central government has given warning to five states – Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh – terming that the existing measures to combat the pandemic were inadequate.
