It was some seven years ago, that Mohanlal – Jeethu Joseph team’s ‘Drishyam’ hit Kerala theatres on a low key note. Then, what we have seen is a history. Not only that the film has created all time records back then, but the movie was subsequently made into all the leading industries across the nation. Fast moving to 2021, the story is different – Drishyam is a brand to reckon and the sequel to the movie was received by the industry with much anticipation. Even though it was an OTT release, ‘Drishyam 2’ is arguably a bumper hit, considering the kind of viewership that it has generated in Amazon Prime Video (The exact figures are yet to be made official by Amazon Prime Video).
Quite unsurprisingly, the movie has started getting remake offers from various industries, and the Telugu version – ‘Drushyam 2’ has even started rolling. Informed by ‘Aashirvad Cinemas’, the muhurat ceremony of this Venkitesh starrer was took place today. The movie, which will be directed by Jeethu himself, is being jointly bankrolled by ‘Suresh Productions’, ‘Aashirvad Cinemas’ and ‘Rajkumar Theatres’. Like its Malayalam counterpart, ‘Drushyam’ has managed to become an iconic movie in Telugu film industry, since its release.
