New Delhi: Filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi was on Monday honoured with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his immense contribution to Indian cinema.
Chandraprakash was bestowed with the award by President Ram Nath Kovind in the presence of Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Amit Shah at a Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.
Chandraprakash Dwivedi is best known for directing the 1991 television epic Chanakya in which he also played the title role of the political strategist Chanakya and an inspiration for millions.
He will be directing a movie on Prithviraj Chauhan produced by Yash Raj Films, starring Akshay Kumar in a lead role.
