Kulanthevelu died on April 18, days after his son was beaten up by his son due to a property dispute. From the CCTV footage released during the investigation, Santosh repeatedly hit his father in the face and Kulanthevelu collapsed bleeding. The incident took place in Peramballur, Tamil Nadu.
Other family members intervened and stopped Santosh. But an angry Santosh is also seen trying to continue the attack.
After the death of a private company owner, Kulanthaivelu's family filed a complaint and started an investigation.
A case of assault was registered earlier after Kulanthaivelu was admitted to the hospital, but was later withdrawn.
A case was registered under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous means) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Santosh later filed a case.
