Well, we heard about proposals of linking Aadhaar with that of property transactions. Now, Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, informed that they haven’t reached in on making it a mandatory step. As per the explanatory letter issued by him, linking Aadhaar with property transactions was just a proposal put forwarded by the Rural Development Ministry.
The discussion of linking Aadhaar with property transactions, came on the wake of the Union Ministry exploring the provisions of the Registration Act, 1908. Sources suggested that government is going to tighten the hold on ‘benami’ property transactions, by implementing more regulatory norms.
