UIDAI Authorities have suspended the e-KYC License of Bharti Airtel and Airtel Payment Bank. It was over the issue of misuse of AADHAAR card number from the part of Airtel officials, which UIDAI authorities have gone for this step. Well, as per the explanatory comments made by UIDAI authorities, Airtel is said to have allegedly used the AADHAAR – eKYC based SIM verification process in opening up payment bank accounts of the customers, without their consent.
Well, condemning decisions such as linking payment bank accounts in order to receive LPG subsidy. That said, the cancellation of Airtel’s license would mean that the telecom operator cannot carry out the linking procedure between SIM card and that of the AADHAAR number through eKYC means. Similarly, the Airtel Payment bank cannot open new accounts hereafter using the eKYC method.
