Idukki: The police will appeal the court verdict acquitting Arjun, the accused in the case of rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Idukki’s Vandiperiyar. The police said they will appeal against the POCSO court verdict.
The court acquitted the accused Arjun in the case of raping and killing a six-year-old girl. The court acquitted the accused by stating that the prosecution could not prove the murder and rape.
Judge V Manju of the Kattappana fast-track special court pronounced the verdict acquitting the accused. The verdict comes two years after the charge sheet was filed.

On June 30, 2021, a six-year-old girl was raped, killed and strangled in Vandiperiyar Churakkulam estate. At first it was thought that he had died with a shawl around his neck. But the post-mortem report revealed that the child was a victim of torture and murder.
During the later investigation, the police found that Arjun, a native of Vandiperiyar, had done the crime. The police investigation also revealed that the girl, who was unconscious during the torture, was killed and then strangled.
The accused had been abusing the girl since she was three years old. The parents used to abuse the time when they were going to work.
