The authorities have issued more guidelines for the tourists reaching the Idukki’s Santhanpara Kallipara hills to enjoy the scenic beauty of Neelakurinji flower. The aim is to prevent widespread destruction of Kurinji flowers and to prevent travelers from reaching them through dangerous routes.
The district administration has also warned that strict action will be taken against those who ignore the instructions.
It is estimated that around one and a half lakh tourists have swarmed to enjoy the blooming Kurinji in Idukki. As the number of visitors increased, the panchayat also established security arrangements and infrastructure. However, there are people who ignore all this and reach the top through the dangerous cliffs near Chathurangapara.
With the rains, the rocks have become slippery making the routes vulnerable for accidents. There are many groups going to Kurinji hill through this route with old people and small children.
There are some tourists who ignore the warnings and destroy Kurinji plants widely. Along with this, the plants continue to be trampled while clicking photos. The traffic guidelines that have been put in place to reduce traffic congestion are also being ignored.
