Actor and MLA Mukesh was dropped from the policy-making committee of the film conclave announced by the government. After the Hema Committee report, Mukesh has also been accused of sexual assault. In this situation, Mukesh was removed from the committee. No one has been included in the committee to replace Mukesh. Meanwhile, FEFCA chairman and director B Unnikrishnan has been retained in the committee. This year the Cinema Conclave is organized after the second week of November. Its venue will be in Kochi.

Film Development Corporation Chairman Shaji N Karun is in charge of management. Ahead of formulating a comprehensive film policy in the state, the government intends to hold a wide-ranging conclave involving prominent people from all sections of the film industry. The government says that the conclave is essential for the future film policy. On the other hand, the opposition has announced that it will not cooperate in the film conclave. The WCC, an organization of women activists in Malayalam cinema, has also raised the question whether the conclave will bring victims and predators together. Around 350 people are expected to attend the conclave. A maximum schedule of five days is currently under consideration.
