Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole had created a controversy after he said that Shankaracharyas would clean the Ram temple in Ayodhya if the opposition India Sangh came to power in the Lok Sabha elections.

Patole claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has acted against protocol in the construction of Ram Temple and will correct it if the opposition coalition forms the government. All the four Shankaracharyas will clean the Ram Temple. A Ram Durbar will be established there. There it is not an idol of Lord Rama, but an infant form of Ram Lalla,” the Congress leader said.

Narendra Modi has acted against the protocol in the construction of Ram Temple. We will do it through correction and religion,” he said.
The Ram Temple was opened to the public after Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the 'prana pratishtha' ceremony of the idol on January 22 in a grand event attended by over 10,000 people, including leading sportspersons and celebrities.
Shankaracharya, the head of the four major Hindu mathas (monasteries), was absent from the Ramkshetra Pran Pratishtha ceremony.
Three of the four Shankaracharyas said that the Metrabhisheka ceremony was not being conducted according to Hindu religious scriptures, despite stating that they were not against the January 22 event and would not oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
