Dubai Roads and Transport Authority opens main bridge over half a kilometer on Al Khaleej Road. The Al Shindagha Tunnel is now easily accessible to travelers from the Al Mamzar and Daira Islands. The 570 meter long bridge has three lanes. It can carry up to 4800 vehicles per hour. It can also be reached via Barbados, Al Khaleej Road and Omar Bin Al Khattab Road. The bridge was opened as part of the Shindagha Road Corridor project. The Shindaga Road Corridor project is one of the major constructions of the RTA, which runs from Sheikh Rashid Road to Cairo Road for 13 km, connecting Al Mina Road and Al Khaleej Road.
The junction with Al Khaleej Road and Omar Bin Al Khattab Road will also have a signal junction, which will facilitate traffic on Al Khaleej Road, said RTA Director General and Chairman Mathar Mohammed Al Thayer. Traffic from Al Mamzar, Abu Baker Al Siddiqui Road and the Daira Islands has been diverted across the bridge. Street lights and directional signs have been installed in connection with this.
Mather Al Thayer said the Shindaga Road Corridor project is 70% complete and by 1027, the 104-minute transportation time will be just 16 minutes by 2027. Two phases are completed. Work is progressing on key locations such as the Daira Islands, Dubai Waterfront, Dubai Maritime City and Mina Rashid. The two phases have been completed, including the Waf Junction on Sheikh Rashid-Oud Mehta Road and the intersection on Sheikh Rashid-Sheikh Khalif Bin Saeed Road. Construction of the third phase is in progress.
Related to this are the construction of the Shindaga Bridge, the renovation of the Corniche Road, the intersections on Al Khalij Road, and the Falcon Interchange. The fourth phase, which is expected to be completed by 2025, will include an intersection with Al Khaleej Road and Abu Hail Road.
The intersection of Sheikh Rashid Road with Jumeirah, Al Meena and Al Mankhool Roads will also be upgraded. The fifth phase is intended to build bridges to the south of the Daira Islands.
