Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Muhammad Khan criticized the government after the Supreme Court canceled the re-appointment of Kannur VC.
As requested by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan himself, Dr. Kannur as VC. Governor Arif Muhammad Khan said that Gopinath Ravindran was appointed.
All the pressure came from the Chief Minister’s office. First came his legal counsel. The Governor responded that the Chief Minister came directly after that.
As soon as the re-appointment demand came, he informed the government that it was illegal. The government said that it has the AG’s advice.
Why should he not consider AG’s advice? Although it is illegal, the appointment was made on the advice of the AG.
The Chief Minister himself came and said that Kannur is his country. Minister of Higher Education has been appointed. Whether the Chief Minister should remain in power is a moral issue.
He is not asking for anyone’s resignation. Let him decide whether to resign. Karma is like that and it will come back to haunt you,” said the governor.
Meanwhile, A. According to the legal advice of Dr. Minister R Bindu explained that he had recommended re-appointment to Gopinath Ravindran.
The decision on the recommendation is taken by the Governor who is also the Chancellor. The minister added that the appointment of VC is at the discretion of the governor and he can respond further after studying the verdict.
