Apple has reportedly filed a patent for a lightweight headset. The headset, which comes with a head mounted display design, appears to be much smaller in size. If one goes in comparing the outing from Apple with those of the Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR) headsets by Microsoft and Facebook’s Oculus VR, the Apple device scores heavily in terms of compatibility.
Apple has featured a multi lens configuration inside the device, which has been dubbed as ‘Optical System for Head – mounted Display’. Using a ‘catadioptric’ system – same as that of the likes of optical telescopes, the system enables Apple to reduce the weight of the device.
