Intended to bring girl students to the forefront, Ministry of Science and Technology, Dpeartment of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, invited applications from eligible candidates for its Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE). Only those students, who have passed Class XII in 2017, are eligible to apply for the scholarship. SHE, which is a component of ‘Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) of the department, is aimed at encouraging students to take up science as majors in higher education.
Every year, a total of 10,000 scholarships are being made available under SHE, while students are required to be enrolled for 3-years B.Sc., B.Sc (Hons), 4-years B.S or for that matter, a 5-years integrated M.Sc./M.S programs courses in Natural/ Basic sciences; while the scheme doesn’t include those courses which majors in Engineering, Medicine, Technology and other Professional/Technical/Applied Science courses. The institutes are also required to be recognized by UGC.
Those who got selected would get a scholarship amount of INR 80,000 annually, out of which INR 20,000 is reserved for summer time research projects. Applicants are also required to be featured among the top 1% of the state qualifying examinations conducted by respective boards or states. For more details, visit www.online-inspire.gov.in.
