August 18 Kerala Covid Update: Kerala registers 1,758 new cases and 1,365 negative cases

Kerala has registered a total of 1,758 new Covid positive cases. The number of samples that turned negative stands at 1,131. With this, the total number of covid cases in Kerala has reached 47,920, while the state’s total active cases have reached 16,274. A total of 31,394 people have recovered from the disease. Amongst those who have turned positive today, 39 are from overseas, while 42 came from other states.

The state has registered 1,641 cases through transmission in the past 24 hours. Out of those who caught the disease through transmission, the sources of 81 are yet to be traced down. Incidentally, the state has also recorded 6 more Covid death cases, taking the tally to 175.

The district wise breakup figure of positive cases is all follows,

Thiruvananthapuram – 489

Malappuram –242

Ernakulam – 192

Kozhikode – 147

Alappuzha – 126

Kannur – 123

Kottayam – 93

Kollam – 88

Pathanamthitta – 65

Palakkad – 51

Thrissur – 48

Wayanad – 47

Kasargode – 42

Idukki – 5

Number of people who have turned negative

Thiruvananthapuram – 310

Kozhikode – 195

Malappuram – 194

Kasargode – 125

Palakkad – 82

Alappuzha – 65

Ernakulam – 64

Kannur – 61

Idukki – 59

Kollam – 54

Kottayam – 48

Wayanad – 46

Thrissur – 33

Pathanamthitta – 29

Right now, 1,65,564 people are under observation, out of which a total of 13,633 are in hospital. Today, a total of 1,583 people have been admitted to hospitals. During the last 24 hours, Kerala has tested a total of 29,265 samples. Till date, Kerala has tested a total of 12,40,076 samples. The state has a total of 565 hotspots right now.
