August 20: India registered 69,652 new positive cases and 58,794 negative cases

During the past 24 hours, a total of 69,652 fresh Covid cases were reported in India. With last day’s figure, India’s Covid tally stands 28,36,926 to its credit. On the other hand, the number of people, who have recovered from the pandemic stands at 58,794. The country has registered 977 new deaths during the last 24 hours. With this, the pandemic has claimed a total of 53,866 lives from India so far. Ministry of Health informs that the active cases in India stands at 6,86,395, whereas a total of 20,96,665 got cured/discharged/migrated.

The recovery rate of the country stands at 73.90%, giving a strong positive note to the country’s fight against Covid 19. ICMR statistics show that the country has tested a 9,18,470 samples last day. Till date, India has tested a total of 3,26,61,252. India is the only country to have crossed 30 million mark, (excluding the figures from China) in terms of samples being tested.
