BlackBerry and Baidu will team up in order to proceed with the research in the domain of autonomous car. Baidu will be using the QNX platform as a secure base for building the Apollo open source firmware. It is based on this source, which the self driving cars are going to function with. That said, BlackBerry will be using Baidu’s CarLife smartphone integration as well as DuerOS. DuerOS, which is essentially a conversational AI engine, which will be used for improving the voice based command control units in cars.
With the CES 2018 on the anvil, we can expect both the players reaching the centre and unveiling their plans with AI and self driving cars.
