Despite earning mixed reviews, superstar Mohanlal starred ‘Odiyan’ has made it to the top of Kerala box office with a record breaking figure of INR 7.22 Cr on day 1. So far this is the biggest opening day figure scored by any movie at Kerala box office. It must be added that the figure came on a day, which was incidentally a hartal day in Kerala. Many multiplexes in Kochi and other important centers had to cancel many of the morning shows and this has resulted in the final figure of the movie’s box office collection, which had a potential to breach the 8Cr mark.
Unofficial reports suggest that the movie has scored heavily across the releasing centers outside the state as well. While the nationwide day 1 figure of ‘Odiyan’ is reportedly around 12Cr, the world wide collection is stated to have made it to the 20Cr plus range. However, we have to wait till official numbers reach our ears.
