Kasaragod: After 17 long years, the accused in the case of looting ivory tusks from the forest department’s godown has been arrested. The Crime Branch nabbed Mohammad Rafeeq from Shivamogga Tippu Nagar, Karnataka.
The incident took place back in 2005 when the accused broke open a godown in in Vidyanagar and stole two ivory and 30 sandalwood. There were ten people in the group. Seven people were arrested earlier. The rest of the thieves were declared absconding.
The case, which was earlier being investigated by the local police, is now being investigated by the Crime Branch. A team of Inspector K. Krishnan, SI M. Manoj, Senior Civil Police Officer K.V. Latheesh investigated the case.
