Kozhikode; Congress leader K. Muraleedharan MP criticized the High Court’s order banning untimely display of firecrackers. He said that fireworks are an integral part of festivals and fireworks which are supposed to be done at night cannot be done during the day.

Yesterday, the High Court had ordered a ban on untimely firecrackers in places of worship. Firecrackers cause noise and environmental pollution. The court also ordered to search and seize the ammunition illegally stored in places of worship.
The High Court said that no holy book says to burst firecrackers to please God. The High Court’s order came on a petition seeking a ban on firecrackers in the Marad temple.
